Story Writing and directing alone, the novelist is staging "Romancero Queer" at La Colline. There, she reunites with her beloved "Woke" troupe. Three of her performers, Soa de Muse, Mata Gabin, and Soraya Garlenq, paint her portrait.

Spring 2024, Théâtre du Nord, Lille. On a stage bathed in neon pink lights, the letters WOKE in XXL format, a mirror ball, an exhilarated troupe swaying to the disco hit "Poison Lips" by Vitalic. The audience is entranced. Created in David Bobée's lair and followed by a few dates in France, "Woke" was Virginie Despentes's first and fruitful foray onto the stage. A fiery and furious manifesto bringing together eight actors and actresses from theater, cabaret, queer performance, and film...

Fifteen months later, from Casey to Clara Ponsot, we find them all (with the exception of Félix Maritaud, who was held up by a shoot) in "Romancero Queer". Virginie Despentes, who wrote "Woke" with Julien Delmaire, Anne Pauly and Paul B. Preciado , is this time alone at the helm, both for the writing and the direction. Once again, she explores the splendors and miseries of theatrical life and takes us behind the scenes of the show...
